Madheshi Journalist Association (MJA) is an organization of the energetic journalists from the Madheshi community as well as of those working for Madhesh beat at different media outlets across the country.
A group of professional journalists working at various media houses in Kathmandu valley had established the organization in May, 2013 after a six-month of home works and vigorous consultations with some senior journalists.
The MJA runs its central office in Kathmandu and has its district chapters in the 20 districts of the Madhesh-Tarai region, along with a valley committee in the capital.
The MJA, which was formed with a great objective to enhance the quantitative and qualitative growth of the Madheshi journalists, has also sincerely devoted to boosting the media-related agendas such as freedom of expression, press freedom, Right to Information at the national level.
The MJA, an official partner of the UNESCO in Kathmandu, promotes the professional journalism, the skills of working journalists, the due rights and safety of the working journalists through seminar, training, research, informed advocacy and publication at various levels in collaboration with national and international NGOs.
